Site Calendar Lite
The friendly events calendar for WordPress — clean, fast, and genuinely free.
Month view, list view, venues, organisers, free RSVPs, and a live ICS feed — all in the box, with no upgrade wall in front of the core features. Built for clubs, churches, community groups, and small venues.
Latest version 1.1.1.11 · Tested on WordPress 6.9 · Requires PHP 8.0+ · GPLv2
What you get, free, forever
- Month view and list view — no premium tier required to switch between them
- Venues and organisers — full taxonomies with their own admin screens
- Categories — colour-coded, filterable on the front end
- Free RSVP collection — capture names, emails, and head counts without a third-party service
- Live ICS feed — Google Calendar, Outlook, and Apple Calendar can subscribe to your events
- Full REST API — events, venues, organisers exposed for developers and headless setups
- Clean front-end output — no jQuery soup, no 200KB CSS bundles, no telemetry
- Mobile-friendly by default — every view stacks cleanly on phones without configuration
Five-minute setup
- Download the zip above (or install via Plugins → Add New → Search "Site Calendar Lite" once we're listed on WordPress.org).
- Upload via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin and activate.
- Add the
[pro_calendar]shortcode to any page. - Create your first event via the Site Calendar → Events menu.
That's the entire on-ramp. Detailed walk-throughs are in the Resources hub.
When you outgrow Lite
Site Calendar Pro adds the features dedicated event sites tend to need — without crippling Lite or showing nag screens in your admin. One-time payment, lifetime updates, single-site or unlimited-site licences.
- Selling tickets through Stripe or WooCommerce, with branded confirmation emails
- QR-coded door check-in (turn any phone into a scanner)
- Week, Day, and Photo views in addition to Month and List
- Full recurring events with series management
- Custom fields engine with filter UI
- CSV bulk import (Events Calendar Pro compatible) and front-end event submission
- White-label the calendar (hide "Powered by" on client sites)
Built honestly
Lite isn't a teaser. It's a complete, usable calendar plugin in its own right. We built it because we got tired of WordPress events plugins that advertise "free" then hide the second view, RSVP collection, or category filtering behind a £99/year wall.
If Lite is everything you need, that's fine — keep it free, forever, no nags. If you do upgrade to Pro one day, every event, venue, organiser, and attendee record carries straight across; same database, same shortcodes, same admin.
